NEW ALBUM: 'record:BREAKUP'

Declan Bennett’s brand-new album 'record:BREAKUP' has been written over the the past two years. During this time Declan has been performing alongside Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong in Tony/Grammy award winning 'American Idiot' on Broadway and post-show, gigging across New York, trying out his new collection of new songs. Billie Joe unexpectedly turned up at one of Declan’s late-night gigs and was moved to step in to finance the recording of the album demo.

The finished version of the album was recorded in New York City with a band of his closest friends and produced by Declan himself. The new album tackles familiar themes of heartbreak and infidelity in a collection of 12 songs, designed to be heard in sequence, charting the journey through the final weeks of a relationship. 'record:BREAKUP' maintains the intimacy of his first two acoustically led records, while introducing a fuller, more electric feel. As well as the familiar, frank approach to songwriting there is an intriguing new move towards a bigger sound. The album charts a sequence of events, developing the dramatic themes of emotional struggle, from the opening prologue of 'Not Allowed' through the fighting temper of 'Easy' to the challenging contemplation of 'Freer', and the committed, universal pulse of 'Love Wins'.

'record:BREAKUP' is a story to be heard by all who have felt the urgency of love. The urgency of racing towards an impending ending. The urgency of change and of moving on. And finally realising that what you were looking for, you may have had in front of you all along.

This BREAKUP is on record. This BREAKUP has been recorded. This BREAKUP broke all the records.
